Dhanaulti Hills: Escape to paradise

I guess not many of us must have heard the name Dhanaulti. I was one of 'em till a chance presented itself to me & I happened to visit this most awesome place on earth.
It is situated in the northern part of India in a state called Uttranchal, one of the youngest states in India. It is approximately some 325 Kms from Delhi, 80 odd kms from the town of Dehradoon and some 25 kms from the well known hill station of Mussorie.

This small but wonderful place called Dhanaulti Hills has the serene beauty and beautiful weather, which I am sure, is enough to bowl you over, and thats a bet. Situated at an altitude of almost 2000 mtrs , tucked away in the midst of deep forests of deodar, oak, conifer, rhododendron trees, Dhanaulti is a woody paradise that makes you forget where you are. Compared to the hustle bustle & boisterous town of Mussoorie, Dhanaulti is fairly secluded and peaceful. And thats what draws us more towards it.
A visit to Dehradun for a close friends wedding gave me the opportunity to come visit Mussorie and also Dhanaulti. For the fact that I hadn't even heard the name of this place, visiting it was far behind, but a chance conversation with my friend about the region recieving some snowfall couple of days back spurred me on to definitely come and visit DH. And trust me I was not disappointed. The sight of the snow clad Himalayas, shining in the sun, is something I can't forget. I captured the same through my camera ( pic can be seen below)

It was really awesome to play in the snow, and being a first time experience I'll really cherish the same forever.
I am sharing here some of the pics I captured while on this wonderful trip.

Its a wonderful place and I recommend anyone who's planning a getaway do go to DH, especially the one's staying in Delhi and nearby places. Trust me, Its really worth it!!
